- National entrepreneurs explore new businesses, “Opening their Eyes” to the demands of international buyers.
- Delivery time, design, and quality are weapons with which to compete with China and other countries offering full package.
- The main national brands dedicated to producing full package are present at Colombiamoda 2018 and Textiles2 Trade Show.
July 2018 The category of full package clothing is present in Colombiamoda and Textiles2, and with this alternative, the national garment manufacturers are responding to Inexmoda’s call to “Open their eyes” to explore new business opportunities.
According to them, delivery times as well as quality and Colombian production design, are the tools to compete with Chinese and Central American production. “Full package is the alternative for bringing big international brands back to the country,” indicated the entrepreneurs.
With 14 years in this market, Juan Cristóbal Fernández, manager of “Full Package,” says that “We must compete with product quality, not with price.” But he warns that the category of full package should be an exclusive company line, not only an alternative to fill out the installed capacity during certain times of the year.
Alejandro Giraldo of Macotexco SAS, of the municipality of El Santuario (eastern Antioquia) agrees, his company being one of the beneficiaries of the Business Strengthening Program of the Fashion System, led by Inexmoda and supported by the Government of Antioquia. With seven years in the market, Macotexco has been strengthened with tools of competitiveness and productivity, offered by Inexmoda. “Today we are one of the most organized companies in El Santuario. We have 55 people and 100 machines, and we continue working to be more competitive.”
Bagg Style, from the municipality of Donmatías in the subregion of Northern Antioquia, is another company that benefits from the Business Strengthening Program of the Fashion System, led by Inexmoda in several regions. It produces backpacks, handbags, cosmetic cases, and T-shirts with exclusive designs of each client. “Our presence in this Colombiamoda trade show is a result of this strengthening process, thanks to Inexmoda. Here we are learning to sell what we already know how to do,” said its manager, Juan Camilo Ramírez.
Tinta Sólida, also offering full package for 14 years, is working insistently and patiently to reach the United States, says its manager Yaneth Vásquez, who has observed a good business dynamics in this Colombiamoda 2018 and Textiles2 Trade Show. “The key to competing is delivery time, not so much price,” she highlights.
Domestic and international buyers are also “Opening their eyes” to new businesses. Mariela Rodríguez of the Chilean company “Porquetevistes,” came to Colombiamoda to shop for products for her Santiago store. She is searching for Latin design in casual clothes and accessories for women in order to have more purchasing alternatives besides what she currently buys from Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Brazil, and other countries. “She who seeks, finds, and I know I will find it in Colombiamoda.”
National buyers also answer the invitation of the Trade Show, taking advantage of new opportunities offered by the Colombiamoda Trade Show, the most important of the Fashion System in Latin America. The Colombian-Chilean chain Falabella also looks for supplies, national fabrics, and full package alternatives for carrying local products in its 29 Colombian stores.
Darwin Gaitán Gutiérrez, executive of the chain, highlighted the wonderful offer of full package displayed not only in Textiles2, but in all the pavilions of Colombiamoda. He warned, however, that within the framework of the trade show “you don’t do business, but rather create contacts.” He came to add national garment manufacturers to the chain’s monthly purchases, about 200,000 units in all categories (women, children, and men).
In this way Colombiamoda 2018 boosts business and shares with employers and buyers its higher purpose of “Linking knowledge to empower the Fashion System.” Tomorrow will be the last day of Colombiamoda and businesses will continue to be created.
