Colombiatex 2020: the fashion system platform for business, arrives with a big bet on sustainability

Inexmoda on its mission to transform and connect business with the market, gets ready to open its 2020 commercial agenda with its tradeshow Colombiatex de las Américas.

  • These January 21, 22 y 23 during Colombiatex de las Américas, will be discussed and educated the importance of a more sustainable fashion facing a more demanding consumer.
  • The visitors will get to know the business trends and where the industry is going, from the innovations in processes and materials used within the Textile-Manufacturing, where the eco-friendly practices will be highlighted.
  • Taiwan will be one of the guest countries standing out, representing the Taiwan Textile Federation, and presenting functional textiles such as ECO, a line developed with this country’s technology. The tradeshow will have more than 50 participating countries, among the exhibitors and buyers.
  • The tradeshow 32nd edition, specialized in textiles, supplies and machinery, will gather from its trends, business and knowledge axis, spaces as the Sustainability Route, Colombia Origin, Trends Forum, commercial sample, Graphic Market and Inexmoda-UPB’s knowledge Pavilion.

December 2019. Inexmoda on its mission to transform and connect business with the market, gets ready to open its 2020 commercial agenda with its tradeshow Colombiatex de las Américas. Its 32nd edition Will take place on January 21-23, and will have as protagonist the innovation in processes, Avant-guard technology, materials and standing out sustainable practices used on the Textile-Manufacturing industry. It will be an opportunity for the assistants to get to know in addition to the textiles, supplies and machinery, the business trends and where the industry is heading, generating reflections around a more aware and demanding consumer regarding the environment.

“Inexmoda permanently works in order to offer updating commercial scenarios where the trends being a conversational topic worldwide can be evidenced. On this occasion, Colombiatex de las Américas, a specialized platform and heart of the business for the industry in Latin America, will discuss and educate its visitors about the immense responsibility we currently have with the industry, so it will be a tradeshow to know where the business is heading in terms of sustainability, trends, innovations and knowledge, components that will permeate each scenario within the tradeshow,” stated Carlos Eduardo Botero Hoyos, Inexmoda’s CEO.

Pushing sustainable and technological innovations transforming the industry

Today’s consumers are more aware and informed about the products they consume regarding the environmental care. This is why, Colombiatex 2020 will highlight the sustainable practices currently being developed by supplies, textiles and washing companies through the Sustainability Route; an Inexmoda’s start-up in which the 30 participating companies will take part on the commercial sample of the tradeshow, which is their bet on processes and how from their business model are engaged with the environment.

On this edition, companies like Sutex will be part of the journey, and will be in charge of showing the visitors how the company is applying an ecological awareness from three different fronts. “Our main processes are, digital printing in which the use of water  is 0%; 100% Colombian textiles made from plastic bottles and supporting recyclers, this is part of the new portfolio; and the viscose production that now reduces the emissions of pollutants such as carbon dioxide and oil, thanks to a new process with wood supplies and sustainable cellulose”, explained Jorge Pettit, Sutex Marketing Manager.

Besides the reuse of plastics and zero emission processes, one of the big challenges of the productive processes within the Textile-Manufacturing industry involves the use of water. Because of this, brands such as Estrada Velásquez, that will also be part of the commercial sample and the Sustainability Route, will exhibit how the economic, the environmental and the social aspects are integrated within its processes. “we have a sewage treatment plant which by means of ultrafiltration processes eliminates the 95% of pollution present in the water. Delivering water treated and with excellent quality allowing the reuse of this in some productive processes, reducing the consumption and demand of clean water in an 80%, taking us to compete on a national and international level for having eco-friendly processes and pollution-free products”, ensured the brand.

Colombiatex de las Américas is considered the most important specialized tradeshow in the Textile-Manufacturing business for Latin America, gathering countries like Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, among others. On this edition, Taiwan will be one of the guest countries standing out, representing the Taiwan Textile Federation, and presenting functional textiles such as ECO, a line developed with this country’s technology offering a sustainable but profitable use of the textiles. “ECO is born thanks to a raise on the worldwide demand for sustainability, technology, innovation and new textile functionalities, taking the textile producers in Taiwan to achieve a much more profitable and ecological production”, stated Marisa Koun, Marketing Chief from the Taiwan Textile Federation.

More than 50 countries converge in Colombiatex de las Américas

For this edition Colombiatex de las Américas will have the presence of around 50 countries, where there will be 530 exhibitors, who will present their innovations regarding the textiles, supplies and machinery for the Fashion industry, and around 15.300 national and international buyers, who will attend in order to identify new business opportunities.

Likewise, it will be a tradeshow to promote and highlight the 100% Colombian production, which favors and activates the country’s business dynamics and disseminates the proposals with Colombian origin stamp to the national and international buyers. Colombian brands that meet the requirements will be identified inside our commercial sample with the stamp: Origen Colombia.

Consequently, Colombiatex 2020 will exalt the talent of graphic and visual designers and illustrators from the Country through the Graphic Market, a Project made between Inexmoda and Artextil, in which around 25 designers that were part of an invitation, will expose their creativity presenting the last illustration trends for multiple uses like textiles, decoration, home and printing.

Fashion trends inaugurating the year

Trends in products, materials and fashion are the starting point for the fashion business in the world, as they are one of the most important information sources for the professional buyers visiting scenarios like Colombiatex de las Américas. For this reason, the Trends Forum will be one of the highlights within the tradeshow, in which Inexmoda, as a result of its investigations will inform the audience about the fashion trends regarding textiles, supplies, and color for the Spring Summer 2020 season.

In addition, this space will have daily academic talks complementing the exhibition. “Trends Forums in the world are a source of information and inspiration for the fashion brands and the designers, who take important decisions in their companies; for this reason, the visit and knowledge of this space can represent the success of a collection for a fashion brand”, stated Maite Cantero, Research Coordinator from Inexmoda.

Furthermore, the trends will be reflected in Wednesday January 22 on the iconic Denim Day in Colombiatex, a special day to pay tribute to this category, standing out in the world of fashion for being essential in the consumers’ wardrobe.

The future of the fashion business is learnt in Colombiatex de las Américas 2020

Inexmoda from its knowledge core will propose questions about how to face the challenges on regards of the environment and will make an invitation to revolutionize and evolve from the actions of the being and the society, taking positive proposals with a social impact.

The training will be made through the Inexmoda-UPB’s Knowledge Pavilion, a free entrance space in the Teatro Metropolitano, and there will be 28 different knowledge moments in three formats (conferences, panels, workshops and talks) and will also be broadcasted via streaming on www.colombiatex.com.

For three days, Colombiatex de las Américas will make a call on sustainability, as a platform where trends and business get together, a roadmap opening the agenda for the Textile-Manufacturing industry demonstrating innovations, sustainable processes and fashion trends, in order to be able to fit the consumer’s demands and to have a sustainable industry engaged with the environment.
