- In the frame of Colombiamoda 2020, The Digital Fashion Week, Inexmoda, ProColombia and Fashion Trust Arabia celebrated the alliance that will take Colombian design to Qatar on 2021.
- The alliance called UNIQUE, Fashion Trust Arabia Edition 2021, in which Inexmoda and ProColombia, with the support of a curator committee in which the recognized designer Johanna Ortiz will participate, will select five (5) Colombian designers with international potential to travel to Qatar on 2021 and compete for the first place.
- The winner of the contest will be announced at the Fashion Trust Arabia 2021 Awards, that will have the presence of fashion celebrities and designers.
- Inscriptions will be open from 28 July to 30 October 2020, at inexmoda.org.co .

In the frame of Colombiamoda 2020, The Digital Fashion Week, Inexmoda, ProColombia and Fashion Trust Arabia celebrated the alliance that will take Colombian design to Qatar on 2021 to boost it towards international markets. The project will be called UNIQUE, Fashion Trust Arabia Edition 2021, and has the purpose to promote the capacities of Colombian designers to reach the main fashion houses in the world through mentoring and accompaniment closing business. The inscriptions will be open from 28 July to 30 October 2020 at www.inexmoda.org.co
Inexmoda on its mission to transform businesses and connect them with the market, has fostered different platforms to accompany the designers and make them visible through a strategic growth route developed by the institute through time, on which, over the last 10 years, more than 500 designers from the Country have participated. This strategic route begins with Latinoamérica Habla, contest driven to students from the final semesters of design, and continues with El Cubo de Colombiamoda, space for emerging designers; La Semana de la Moda de Colombiamoda runways, as a platform for the designers with a greater trajectory in the market, and finally, the program UNIQUE Sello de Autor, made by Inexmoda and ProColombia to connect the Colombian designers with the international markets.
“Colombian design has an enormous potential on the international markets thanks to its creativity, differentiation and the unique DNA of our designers. The alliance between Inexmoda, ProColombia and Fashion Trust, will take the Colombian design to cross borders catapulting its export potential”, said Carlos Eduardo Botero, CEO of Inexmoda.
Fashion Trust Arabia puts its eyes on Colombian design
This non-profit organization based in Qatar, offers financial support, accompaniment on business and acknowledgement to the designers, leaded by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser and Her Excelence Sheikha al Mayassa, mother and sister of the current Emir of Qatar. Every year the organization calls 25 designers in different product categories to compete for the possibility to receive mentorships and accompaniment closing business with different fashion houses around the world. In previous editions, the contest has had recognized judges like Victoria Beckham and Olivier Rousteing.
With a view towards 2021, Fashion Trust Arabia will open a new category in the contest focused on Colombian design in which five designers will compete for the first place. “This strategic alliance will connect the creative talents from Latin America with the Arab world through the international exhibition and platforms in new markets in which these designers will participate”, said Sheikha al Mayassa, co-chair of Fashion Trust Arabia.
UNIQUE, Fashion Trust Arabia Edition 2021 will take Colombian design to Qatar
The program UNIQUE, Fashion Trust Arabia Edition 2021, will look for the designers with a greater potential to face international markets from visibility spaces and business platforms to allow them to connect with buyers from the world. Inexmoda and ProColombia will open a call for designers from all over the Country from which the most highlighting five (5) will be selected, according to the selection criteria established by Fashion Trust Arabia.
In order to participate, the designers must have their business based in Colombia, have between 2 and 10 years of existence, belong to the Ready to Wear business and speak fluent English. The designers will be able to enroll through Inexmoda’s website www.inexmoda.org.co where they will address a form with their profile and their business’. Inscriptions will be open from 28 July to Friday 30 October, and the 5 finalists will be announced on Friday 20 November 2020.
The five (5) finalists will have the accompaniment by the organizers and recognized names within the industry such as Johanna Ortiz, who will be part of the curator committee of the contest. Also, they will travel to Qatar on 2021 to the Fashion Trust Arabia Awards, where a winner will be selected from the Colombian design category.
“This alliance between ProColombia, Inexmoda and Fashion Trust Arabia will become a great showcase for Colombian fashion in the MENA region, that has a great sensitivity and taste for the last trends. In addition, this will be a great opportunity for the Colombian designers and brands to show once again their quality, design and production adaptability, in a market like Qatar, that has bet strongly on fashion and it is considered as the luxurious market with the fastest growth in the world”, stated Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia.
The winner of the contest will have the opportunity to receive mentorships and strategic accompaniment on its business from world experts; furthermore, Fashion Trust Arabia will connect him with world’s signature buyers, to create business opportunities. In this regard, the First Lady of Colombia María Juliana Ruiz, expressed her support for the competition and highlighted the importance of this kind of initiatives to take Colombian design to the next level.
