With a call from Inexmoda to understand the changes brought by the new technologies as an axis of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, strengthen the talent, creativity, entrepreneurship, technology and culture that derive on a sustainable and competitive future for the industry, Colombiamoda 2019 was launched, in Plaza Mayor in Medellin, celebrating in this occasion its special 30th edition.
With the presence of the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, the Minister of commerce, Industry and Tourism; José Manuel Restrepo Abondano; Antioquia’s Governor, Luis Pérez Gutiérrez, and Medellin’s Major, Federico Gutiérrez Zuluaga, among other national and local authorities, Colombiamoda 2019 and Textiles2 gates were opened today, and got transformed looking towards the future for the appropriation of the new technologies and the tools provided by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
On its opening, Carlos Eduardo Botero Hoyos, thanked the presence and support of the national and local authorities, the tradeshow’s journey on its 30 years, the challenges facing the Fourth Industrial Revolution for which Medellin has opened this year a specialized center in Ruta N and emphasized that technological advances, and new market and information dynamics represent opportunities for the Industry. “They have been three decades full of emotions and satisfactions. On them we have put Colombia on the radar of the global Industry. On them we have been the space of development for every actor. On them we have transformed Colombiamoda in a unique tradeshow in Latin-America”, stated.
During the opening event of Colombiamoda 2019, which has the participation of around 470 exhibitors in the trade show and 100 in Textiles2 and which will receive about 80.000 visitors and 12.000 buyers between national and international, the President of the Republic highlighted Inexmoda’s contribution and the labor done by its CEO for the competitiveness of the Country’s Fashion System and ensured, “30 years don’t go unnoticed, we are full of proud and motivation. 1989 was a very tough year for the Country and Colombiamoda was a balm for the time. 30 years later Medellin has not only turned in Latin-America’s Milano and a referent of the region, but has also turned onto the second Industry referent after the United States. I believe that the creative industry and the whole cluster that can be called “orange economy” is almost as big as the mining contribution, twice the contribution made by coffee and can generate more than 600.000 direct and indirect employments”.
Likewise, the Major Federico Gutiérrez Zuluaga, congratulated the fair for its 30 years and gave the Medal for Civilian and Entrepreneurial Service Gonzalo Mejía, gold category, to Inexmoda and its CEO for the three decades of Colombiamoda. He stated, “we recognize the work and contribution made by Inexmoda to the city, the Country and Latin-America. Today Medellin has the fifth center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and today is a reality to talk about Medellin 4.0. Colombiamoda is a representation of an industry that gathers 1.170 entrepreneurs of the Fashion System and it has been strengthened with programs such as Épica: Innovation Challenge, Productive Linkage and textile cluster. We have formed 92 executives promoting 20.000 jobs”.
In the same way, the Governor Luis Pérez Gutiérrez joined with his congratulations on the special 30th edition of Colombia’s Fashion Week®, highlighting its contribution to the development of the Fashion System of the region and the Country and emphasized “the contribution to the economy, to the good name of Antioquia, Medellin and Colombia, and the support to the innovation. Fashion has become a synonym of change and it makes us copy what Colombiamoda has been doing in order to continue innovating”.
For the accomplishment of the tradeshow is key the support coming from the sponsors and allies such as the Medellin’s City Government, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and ProColombia, who have supported the mission of international buyers; Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, UPB-Inexmoda Knowledge Pavilion’s ally, Telemedellin, the official channel of the tradeshow; AVON, official makeup partner of Colombiamoda 2019, and Chevrolet, Colombiana, and Banco de Bogotá who support several runways, entities and companies which have also received recognition for their priceless support to the fair.
In the opening of Colombiamoda 2019, Inexmoda also offered a recognition to the companies and personalities linked to the Fashion System, characterized for their constancy and commitment to the Industry. These were: Fábrica de Licores de Antioquia, on its 100 years; Éxito Group, on its 70 Years; El Mundo Journal, on its 40 years; Hermeco, on its 40 years; journalist Carmen Vásquez; on her 35 years trajectory; AVON Colombia, on its 30 years; Colegiatura Colombiana, on its 30 years and Vogue Latin-America Magazine, on its 20 years.
This way, Colombiamoda’s special 30th edition is launched and developed, Colombia’s Fashion Week ®, three days that promise a renewed business, fashion and knowledge transformation dynamic, headed to new trends in the Industry to promote and strengthen the entrepreneurs within the Country’s Fashion System.
