Colombiamoda, The Digital Fashion Week opened its curtains today 27 July at www.colombiamoda.com, and on its first day received the visit of 20.000 people to enjoy the Business meetings, the Marketplace Colombiamoda and of course, Inexmoda-UPB Knowledge Pavilion with the knowledge branch and the Master Class, workshops and consultancies. On its 31 edition, Colombiamoda 2020 arrives with the same essence with a digital format connecting globally the fashion industry, from the business dynamics and knowledge updates.
Virtual business to activate the Fashion System
Today the business meetings got activated from 9:00 a.m. at www.colombiamoda.com, where suppliers and buyers found the virtual platform to have business and relationship meetings.
For this edition, around 450 offering companies are active on the virtual business platform of Colombiamoda 2020, highlighting the national participation with departments like: Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Santander and Valle del Cauca. These suppliers, during the week of Colombiamoda 2020, will be able to connect with more than 2.000 buyers from the Country and abroad, highlighting the participation of Countries like: Ecuador, Peru, United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Recognized brands like Fabricato, Fajas MariaE, Lafayette, Trucco´s Jeans, Colors, Polito, OffCorss, Chamela, Fuera De Serie, Mercedes Campuzano, are part of this offer in which are included categories such as: clothing, accessories, footwear, leatherwork, textiles, supplies, machinery and biosecurity. In addition, Vogue Talents Corner joins the business platform, a traditional space of Colombiamoda in which has been highlighted the signature, and on this occasion arrives once again from virtuality, where brands like Andrés Otalora, Pink Filosofy, Maria Elena Villamil “MEV”, Socarrás among others, are present, who will also meet with buyers to open new business opportunities.
Other of the highlighted categories in the business branch is the craftmanship in which participates Artesanías de Colombia, who within the frame of Colombiamoda 2020 are presenting pieces and products of the approach between the fashion industry and different artisanal communities, from which trends with traditional techniques without losing their identity are created.
This participation in Colombiamoda, The Digital Fashion Week, is created under the project “Artesano Estamos Contigo”, a comprehensive strategy created by this entity to mitigate the negative impact of the health emergency over the artisanal industry through different marketing, commercialization and accompaniment strategies, looking for the artisans to develop new abilities helping them to face successfully the current picture.
Colombiamoda, a tradeshow catapulting entrepreneurship
Within the frame of Colombiamoda 2020, there are around 117 national entrepreneurs, arriving to this edition of Colombiamoda, The Digital Fashion Week, to connect to other markets, relation with national and international buyers and find new business opportunities.
These entrepreneurs are part of different regional, departmental and national projects led by Inexmoda and other allies, who join to keep promoting the growth and development of the industry. One of them is Épica: Reto de Innovación, made between Inexmoda and the Secretary of Economic Development of Medellin, created to boost the emerging talents of the city with training and accompaniment processes between both entities.
In Colombiamoda 2020, there are around 47 entrepreneurs who are meeting with national and international buyers through the business platform of Colombiamoda 2020. Within the participating brands there is RELIGARE, a selected entrepreneurship to be in charge of the Fashion Show: Alcaldía de Medellín and Épica: Reto de Innovación that will be done on Friday 31 July at 8:00 p.m. at www.colombiamoda.com.
Furthermore, Inexmoda and the Secretary of Economic Development of Medellín have been also developing other project called Encadenamientos Productivos Formales (Formal Productive Chains), which has the purpose of increasing the productivity through a chain between anchor companies and their satellite workshops to obtain together better results regarding productive increase, decrease in delivery times and reprocesses. In Colombiamoda 2020, there are participating 25 of the companies that were selected for this year’s edition.
From national levels, Inexmoda and FedEx from the beginning of this year have been working on a new program called Sonnar, Eco Digital, that opened a call to select 25 companies from the Country with export potential to be trained and strengthen their digital strategy, even more, understanding the current reality. In Colombiamoda 2020, 15 of them are on the business platform looking new market opportunities thanks to a so powerful platform as Colombiamoda, The Digital Fashion Week is.
Calcetería Herva, one of the selected brands of the project Sonnar, Eco Digital, was elected by FedEx and Inexmoda to have an experience on the entertainment branch of Colombiamoda, The Digital Fashion Week, that will take place on Friday 31 July at 8:15 p.m. through www.colombiamoda.com. An urban proposal to dance with the rhythm of the Comuna 13 in Medellín.
The Colombian consumer just one click away
Other of the spaces inaugurated on the first day of Colombiamoda 2020, was the Marketplace Colombiamoda that opened with 80 national brands that are already available to get connected with the final consumer through the online store. This Marketplace emerges thanks to an Alliance with Mercado Libre, which seeks to keep promoting the Colombian e-commerce and open new opportunities for the brands on this digital market.
“We know the importance of this tradeshow on a national and international level, that is why we have been preparing to bring the best and most secure shopping experience for all the users. During the health downturn, we have evidenced that the time invested by the Colombians in platforms like Mercado Libre increased 119%, that is why we are sure that this digital tradeshow will be a complete success for more than 70 clothing, footwear and accessories stores”. stated Juan Camilo Pachón, Marketplace Head of Mercado Libre Colombia.
One of the highlighted categories of the Marketplace Online Store Colombiamoda is the biosecurity, being ALADO one of the participating brands, who arrives to this edition of the Tradeshow with a micro-collection that was born on this COVID-19 time. An idea that emerged to take care of the consumer’s wellbeing with protection garments made technically with the suggested protocols, but complemented with design and fashion.

Knowledge crosses borders and connects the Fashion System enthusiasts
During the first day of Colombiamoda, The Digital Fashion Week, more than 14.300 attendants were connected to the Inexmoda-UPB Knowledge Pavilion through www.colombiamoda.com and social media as Facebook. This first day was charged with speakers focused on fashion trends, business strategies, sustainability and consumer.
The morning began with the conference “Sentimientos culturales para tendencias Otoño-Invierno 21/22” (Cultural sentiments for Fall-Winter 21/22 Trends) by Fashion Snoops in which was made a reflection about the attitudes and behaviors of the consumers and how to apply product strategies to the markets from trends, colors and current backgrounds of the global world. The conference explained four of the cultural sentiments detected today: fix, limit, wonder and goodness, being this last one a call that was born from the global pandemic in which people are eager to feel safe and have a goodness feeling to benefit the other.
On the other hand, Sebastian Grey, winner of Project Runway had his conference “De Project Runway al presente: la importancia del criterio estratégico para el desarrollo de un negocio de moda” (From Project Runway to the present: the importance of strategic criterium for the development of a fashion business), who talked about his experience in this contest that opened his mind understanding “the importance of knowing different cultures, to not make mistakes and learn how to attack different markets of luxurious brands”, as was stated by Grey on the course of his conference.
Tomorrow 28 July Inexmoda-UPB Knowledge Pavilion will come again with a program surrounding digital transformation, macroeconomic perspectives and consumers’ mindsets 2022, an experience that will continue to be lived at www.colombiamoda.com to keep sharing knowledge with the Fashion System.
